My all-time favorites. The ones I were obsessed with in high school will rank higher just because I've listened to them so much, so sorry if it lines up a little too much with RYM all-time charts.
(⊹) is my favorite track off the record.

My all-time favorite album. Would listen to this on repeat the entire day from sophomore year to senior year. My friend 'L' and I would share a pair of earbuds every first period in English freshman year (after he asked me what music I listened to and I told him I had only listened to Christian pop) and this was the one I fell in love with.
This is the most beautiful Thom Yorke's vocals have ever sounded on. Takes you to another place.

Was my favorite album for a while before I started junior year. Probably my most cried to record. The one moment I remember I cried the most was after someone had died at my school from a firearm that went off, and during English class we were given the whole period to chill -- I played 'Godspeed' and immediately broke down. It's all the most beautiful things and Frank is such an artist.

Wonderful, ethereal record. The mixing on this is so incredible; it's so spacey and 'Andromeda' might be one of the greatest ballad of all time. Would listen to this album all the time before bed. Felt like I would float.
Listened to this the most in my history class. Would finish my classwork early and get phone privileges and listen to this the close the period.

It's sort of corny to like Duster now because of how popular it's become with annoying teenagers -- but man, I would be lying if I said that this wasn't one of my mos listened-to albums after I broke up with my ex-girlfriend. It was well-loved within a certain circle of RYM users, and for good reason: to me, it encapsulates a small, specific emotion that lingers (not sure what to call it), especially when you're thinking about a life that's passed you. Had a great concert experience with them in 2024.

One of the many bike-ride-to-school records that were in rotation during my junior year of high school. I would turn the corner near the fire station on S Rice and Subterranean Homesick Alien would play. Felt the best during Fall, when it was just cold enough for a sweater and you could still feel your fingers.
Objectively the best Radiohead album, but obviously not my favorite, just because I hold a little bit more sentimental value to In Rainbows.

I have to be honest, this is probably the only Ween album that I truly like, just cause all the irony seems to be more in service of a more serious, honest, vulnerable songwriting. Would spam this during my DoorDash days. Just one of the overall greatest listens, and it never, ever gets old.

There was a stretch in '22 where this was the only album I listened to. I think I listened to this for a week straight, from the moment I woke up to the minute I was in bed. It had such a stranglehold on me when I was in one of the worst moments of my life, and it's not necessarily the most depressing album. But this record hat me in its claws for months straight. Still one of the most incredible stories in music history.

I have such a soft spot for women who make angry songs that are about men that they loved and now hate. There is a little bit of me that likes 'mean women', admittedly, but the songwriting here is beyond me. There are artists that write songs that you can listen to and be like, "Huh, that's some good writing" and then there's Fiona Apple. She deserves to be in the Mount Rushmore of songwriters, undoubtedly.

Another one of those incredible songwriters that just leave you slack-jawed when you hear their lyrics. Leans definitely on the more poetic side of songwriting, and I don't think anyone can really compare. Adrianne is so apt at giving you essentially nature as it is through her words.

Another Fall record for me. Had an obsessive stretch after I graduated high school over shoegaze. Was the only genre I would listen to for an entire year two years ago. This was by far my most listened to record in the year of '23.
Was surprised to learn that this group is actually Chinese; might be inflammatory to say this but I view it as the Chinese Loveless. Just all-around great shoegaze.

My favorite Kanye all-time Kanye record. There's somethinga bout early Kanye that's just more raw and authentic. I enjoy a lot of the later records, but they don't have the optimism the earlier records do; he's just so much brighter on this record compared to something like Life of Pablo.

Was the first 'weird' or 'different' music I was introduced by my friend 'L'. Don't listen to it much anymore, but it was such an essential record in expanding my horizons in terms of my music tastes. I used to feel so cool walking around the hallway with 'Hustle Bones' blasting in my ears -- I remember showing this record to a friend back then and them saying it was hot shit.
