Jon Bois is an incredible modern storyteller. I'm not even a fan of football but the passion for the game bleeds right through his writing. Incredible short story, give this one a read.
Captain Ahab: The Story of Dave Stieb, a Secret Base documentary series
Another one of Jon Bois and Alex Rubenstein's storytelling masterpieces, but in video form. Never seen a single baseball game to the end before this video, but I think I cried twice watching this.
